Jumeirah Group, a hospitality business of Dubai Holding has signed a deal to open as well as operate its first new five-star hotel in Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The agreement is finalised with a property developer – Jabal Omar Development Company.
The operation includes four towers – overlooking Mecca’s Grand Mosque – with a total 1,033 guest rooms. The investment company is also going to operate 93 villas and a range of food and beverage outlets. In addition, it will manage an executive lounge, a gym and over 90 retail units once the hotel will open in early 2019 as estimated.
This will be the 22nd hotel Jumeirah Group will be operating with total 7,164 rooms. As per the report, a similar kind of deal was completed by Dubai’s Emaar Properties to open an Address Hotels + Resorts-branded property with 1,490 hotel rooms and suites which is again near Grand Mosque in Mecca and scheduled to open in 2019.
“It will also mark the group’s first presence in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in [Mecca], one of the holiest sites in the world and the highest in real estate value,” says Edris Al Rafi, Chief Executive, Dubai Holding.
